World Federation of Science Journalists, WFSJ
Convening of the bi-annual World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ) is a major activity of the World Federation of Science Journalists. The Federation is a non-profit organisation representing 44 national, regional or international associations of science journalists and two associate partners.
The WFSJ seeks to further science journalism as a bridge between science, scientists and the public. It promotes the role of science journalists as key players in civil society and democracy.
The Federation’s goals are to improve the quality of science reporting, promote standards and support science and technology journalists worldwide.
The Federation has a Board with seven members and its current President is Mr. Vesa Niinikangas from Finland.
Finnish Association of Science Editors and Journalists, FASEJ
The Finnish Association of Science Editors and Journalists is a national organisation of professionals involved in science communication. The association has more than nine hundred members.
Its purpose is to promote science communication activities and the exchange of science information not only within the scientific community, but also in society as a whole.
The Association awards grants and offers training opportunities to its members to promote their professional competence and to further other science communications activities.
The Association is a member of the European Association of Science Editors EASE, the European Association of Science Journalists’ Association EUSJA and the World Federation of Science Journalists. Its current President is Ms. Satu Lipponen.
