Sessions

The conference programme will include sessions led by top media and science experts from around the world, as well as lunch sessions and press briefings.

PLENARY sessions challenge delegates with the overall theme of the conference day.  Plenaries feature several prestigious speakers, representing state of the art knowledge in science journalism, who will address key issues in the professional field. Organisers aim to structure the sessions to allow in-depth discussions with audience engagement. There will be seven plenaries.
PARALLEL sessions open up the topics introduced in plenaries and day themes. Many of them are structured into thematic tracks which allow you to plan daily programme according to your special interests. These sessions, which may incorporate various workshop formats, will run after each morning plenary and lunch break.
WORKSHOPS are hands-on activities also run in parallel sessions on Monday (pre-conference workshops), Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Workshops provide a venue for participants to experience, learn and reflect upon an issue or idea related to the conference topics. The conference venue provides rooms ideal for small groups of colleagues with similar interests to meet up and interact. Debates, network meetings, world cafés, film auditions, learning-by-doing meetings and excursions can be fitted into a workshop slot.
TRACKS are series of thematic sessions running through the conference programme across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tracks are made up of parallel sessions and workshops run during the three main conference days.

All these sessions are included in the conference programme and are free of charge. Duration times will vary, allowing for time to network, visit the exhibition area or participate in other WCSJ2013 activities.
