The site focuses on research and development as well as production of high quality specialty products for worldwide distribution. Our focus is on products that utilize polymer-based drug delivery (PBDD) technology and on manufacturing tablets and capsules. In more than 100 countries, our products are used by millions of people all over the world. Our success is based on research and innovative product development. PBDD technology enables us to produce applications that deliver the drug to a specific target with great precision. It can also be used to develop long-acting drug delivery systems that can help to improve treatment and patient compliance. This calls for intelligent elevator solutions – solutions that take into account the unique requirements of different building types and the people who use them. Skyscrapers, for example, wouldn’t exist without elevators. One of the themes will be the recently presented new revolutionary KONE UltraRope elevator hoisting technology. Santeri Suoranta, Director, High-Rise Platforms, introduces the newest innovations in elevator technology, and presents some of KONE’s most ambitious high-rise projects. Estonian research – A study trip to Tallinn and TartuA two-day trip to the capital, Tallinn, and the university town of Tartu, covering topics from information technology, robotics and satellite engineering to genome research, biotech and the role of plants in climate change, will take you to the labs of Tallinn University of Technology and the University of Tartu, as well as the development centre of Skype, and let you meet and interview some of the leading Estonian scientists and engineers. The trip is organized by the Estonian Association of Science Journalists and the Estonian Research Council and funded by the European Regional Development Fund. University of Tampere – on science journalism and journalism education in FinlandOne-day trip The program includes a discussion with experts from the School of Communication, Media and Theatre on the contradictions of doing science and science journalism and on journalism education in Finland. In the evening an informal get-together in a beautiful location just outside the City of Tampere will be organised with dinner, traditional Finnish sauna and swimming in the lake. Teollisuuden Voima Oyj – nuclear power-generated electricity from the island of OlkiluotoA one day trip Teollisuuden Voima Oyj has been supplying safe and reliable electricity from the island of Olkiluoto for more than 30 years. Half of the produced electricity is used to keep the wheels of industry rolling while the other half flows to households, services, and agriculture via local energy companies all around Finland. In Finland, each producer of nuclear power-generated electricity is fully responsible for its own nuclear waste management. Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) and Fortum Power and Heat Oy have jointly established Posiva Oy to manage the research and development and the implementation of final disposal of spent nuclear fuel produced at their power plants in Finland, deep in the Olkiluoto bedrock. The underground characterisation facility ONKALO has enabled research at the actual disposal depth. One day Olkiluoto visit includes presentations and discussions with the representatives of the companies TVO Oyj and Posiva Oy and a site tour in Olkiluoto.
